2010 - UNFPA - New York, NY - Bonnie Shepard has just completed preparing “Beijing at 15: UNFPA and Partners Charting the Way Forward” for the Gender, Culture and Human Rights Branch of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
The document presents a review of progress towards the objectives of the Beijing Platform for Action, the consensus agreement from the Fourth World Conference on Women in 1995. The report analyzes how those objectives are relevant to UNFPA’s mandate, as well as the Millennium Development Goals, the Programme of Action from the International Conference on Population and Development, and other international commitments.
The report concludes with recommendations for maintaining and increasing the current momentum for achieving gender equality.
