Book launch for "La Salud Sexual y Reproductiva: Una Carrera de Obstáculos" held in Chile

April 22, 2009 - Santiago, Chile - The Spanish-language translation of Bonnie Shepard’s book “Running the Obstacle Course to Sexual and Reproductive Health: Lessons from Latin America” has been published as "La Salud Sexual y Reproductiva: Una Carrera de Obstáculos" by FLACSO-Chile and Editorial Catalonia. Over 100 people attended the April 22, 2009 book launch in Santiago. During the event Ms. Shepard spoke about the importance of breaking the silence in Chile on taboo subjects such as abortion. Dr. Soledad Diaz, President of the Instituto Chileno de Medicina Reproductiva, and Dr. Maria de la Luz Silva, who directed the Ministry of Education’s sexuality education program studied in one chapter, both commented on the high-quality of the analysis of advocacy issues in the Chilean context.  Copies of the book sold out at the event.
