2010 - Canadian Conference on Global Health, Ottawa, Canada
Following her well-received presentation at the Canadian Conference on Global Health in November, 2010, SSDS's Bonnie Shepard was interviewed on Global Health TV for their international audience.
The presentation - also featured at the American Public Health Association's 2010 Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado - described new research into sex-selective abortions in India, suggesting that these terminations have a potentially devastating effect on economies and societies. The research was conducted by Dr. Shepard and Dr. Amy Rice of SSDS, and Dr. Sangeetha Purushothaman of Best Practices Foundation in Bangalore, India. In the interview, Dr.Shepard tells Global Health TV about the research and why sex ratios are changing dramatically over time as families abort healthy female fetuses in preference for male children.
· See the Global Health TV Website for a look at the full interview.
· The presentation was also given in Poster form - the poster itself, summarizing the research and it's findings, can be viewed or downloaded here.
